IPDS at A Glance
Indigenous Peoples Development Services (IPDS) is a non-governmental indigenous people’s organization, established in 2001 and registered with Social Welfare Department in 2004 and NGO Affairs Bureau in 2004. Our vision is Promoting the visions of indigenous peoples. Also mission is Protecting and promote the fundamental human rights of indigenous peoples.
The specific objectives are:
Support and strengthen the indigenous peoples to develop their own support mechanisms in social, economic and political empowerment. Increase understanding of indigenous issues and rights among majority communities at local and national level. And Indigenous women and children become integral part of sustainable development Preserve and uphold the language and culture of indigenous peoples.

Major programs of IPDS are as follows—
Human rights education programme;
Advocacy, lobby and campaign for indigenous peoples rights;
Capacity building programme for tea community people, indigenous peoples including youth, women and elders on human rights issues, skills, leadership and land rights;
Promotion and protection of indigenous identity, language and culture;
Bridging the gap programme for promoting cultural diversity;
Action research on indigenous migrant workers;
Awareness programme for indigenous peoples on SRHR issues;
IPDS has more than 18 years working experience on human rights, indigenous people’s rights and related issues with local organizations in organizing protests, human chains and meetings against human rights violation on indigenous peoples of Bangladesh. IPDS has also opportunity to work with government administrations at national and local levels.
Geographic Coverage
The geographic coverage of IPDS is all over the country particularly the areas where indigenous peoples are living.
Local, National and International networks and affiliations
IPDS has experiences working with local, National and International partners. Local level networks are, Joyenshahi Adivasi Unnayan Parishad-JAUP, Achik Michik Society-AMS, Kubaraj Anta Punjee Sangathan-KOBRAJ, Garo Baptist Convention-GBC, Tribal Welfare Association-TWA, Women Commission for Development Bangladesh-WCDB, Patra Somaj Kallyan Parishad-PASKOP and Local traditional institutions etc.
IPDS has experiences to work in national level with various governmental and non-governmental organizations like- National Human Rights Commission, Asia Foundation, Nagorik Uddog, Association for Land Reform and Development-ALRD, Institution for Environment Development-IED, Caritas Bangladesh, Parliamentary Caucus on Indigenous Peoples, Kapaeeng Foundation, Human Rights Forum Bangladesh, BELA, Action Aid Bangladesh, NETZ Bangladesh, BLAST, Manusher Jonno Foundation, Oxfam, Bangladesh Indigenous Peoples Forum etc.
IPDS delegations attending regularly in UNDRIP meetings and other international seminar, workshop and meetings including United Nations. Moreover, IPDS has good relations with Regional and International Networks and organizations like Asia Indigenous Peoples Pact-AIPP, International working Group for Indigenous affairs-IWGIA, Major Group for Indigenous Peoples.
IPDS also member of some national, regional and international organizations like Minority Rights Group, SDGs Platform in Bangladesh, Indigenous Major Group etc.
